Yacht Basin

Situated in the heart of the Walton Backwaters, close to Walton town, Walton Yacht basin is an ideal haven for cruising yachts.

Access to the Basin is by "Tidal Gate" from Local HW -90 minutes (1hr & 30mins before HW) until HW and when there is a level at Harwich of 3.4m. Normal access is from 0800 to 1700 but other times can be arranged. Access out of hours and weekends: 07514 492815.  VHF will only be monitored close to HW and is not guaranteed in any case

The entrance gate has a maximum beam of 4.5m. The Basin is accessible to yachts of up to 1.8m draught and 12m length at high tide. Bedwell and Co. can help with arrangements for larger craft. There are also mudberths available.

2019 Mooring fees for short stay visitors:

£18.00 for the first night, £16.00 per night thereafter, payable to Bedwell & Co. Reduced fees for group bookings, by arrangement.

Walton & Frinton Yacht Club: the Yacht Club is situated alongside the Basin and welcomes yachtsmen visiting from outside the Backwaters on a short stay basis; please sign the visitors’ book. Temporary membership of the club is available for longer stay visitors, please contact the office or bar for further details. The club and bar is open every day, please see www.wfyc.co.uk for catering and bar times

Facilities

Toilets and showers are available in the Yacht Club during normal opening hours and there is a 24 facility available.

Rubbish bins are provided for general garbage and a bottle bank situated near the Yacht Club car park. Your co-operation in dealing with rubbish will be appreciated.

Free wifi is available in the Yacht Club.

LOCAL SERVICES AND ATTRACTIONS:

Walton town centre and the fine beaches are but a few minutes walk away along Mill Lane, where there is a selection of shops, restaurants and take aways catering for most tastes. There is also a laundry.

There are cashpoints at the local Tesco and Co-op supermarkets, the latter also has a Post Office. High street Banks and Building Societies are located in Frinton some 1·5 miles from Walton. Aldi and  an M&S Food Hall are within a five minute walk.

The railway station with an hourly service to Colchester and London is approximately 12 minutes walk away from the Basin and there is also a good Bus service to Frinton, Clacton and Colchester.

There is an indoor swimming pool on the seafront and a pier which provides amusement for all ages. The "Old Lifeboat House" is home to a Maritime Museum and the Naze Tower has stairs to the top for panoramic views of the Backwaters.

The two local Boatyards provide a limited chandlery and extensive boat repair services, the nearest diesel and petrol station is at Frinton.
